Venue

After the religious ceremony at the Parrocchia of S. Lorenzo Levita e Martire, we would like you to join us at our wedding reception, which will be held at the Castle of Cavernago (Castello di Cavernago), located right in front of the Church were we will get married, less than 100 metres walk away.

The Castle of Cavernago was built in 1243 for its important position between the cities of Bergamo, Milan and Brescia. In 1470, a famous Italian captain, Bartolomeo Colleoni, bought the castle and made important changes to it, but it was only with the duke Francesco Martinengo-Colleoni that the castle became as it is known today. The current building is characterized by a baroque style and a large courtyard. The square-shaped building has no battlements and walkways, suggesting that wasn’t built as a military fortress, as it is the nearby castle of Malpaga, but that it was conceived as a family residence, in order to guarantee all the comforts that were suitable for a noble family. The castle was also equipped with a drawbridge, a ditch (now without water), a central well and a large garden, used for hunting. Wonderful frescos are still visible in most part of the colonnade.

This venue is now owned by the descendants of House Gonzaga, which first ruled Mantua in 1328 and it is run as wedding venue by the fabulous staff of Longhi Banqueting.

We loved this castle at first sight and we hope you’ll love it too!
